Life Is Good No Matter What™

Granting Escapes to Adults with Advanced Cancer of Any Kind

Lisa's Experience

Lisa and her husband Bill were able to create lasting memories in December while taking in the sun, fun, and bright lights of Las Vegas! They enjoyed a premium room with a view and meals at the beautiful Mirage Hotel and Casino, a night out at the Cirque de Soleil show Zarkana at Aria Resort and Casino, and sightseeing around the city to view the extravagant decorations for the holiday season.

“Bill and I would like to thank everyone at the Life Is Good No Matter What™ organization and everyone involved who made our trip to Las Vegas an amazing adventure to spend time together. We went to some great shows that words just don't describe well enough. The sights and sounds of Fremont Street along with all the Christmas decorations were fantastic to see up close and in detail. Finally, the food was great and the breakfast at Paris is a must for anyone's Vegas trip. Thank you again for the wonderful gift to spend time together.”

Cindy's Experience

Cindy's escape was a visit to the beach with her beloved family.

“This time away allowed me to spend a special time with my family. I loved to capture special family moments to preserve for my family since we rarely are all together.”

Santiago's Experience

Santiago's escape was to Texas with his beautiful wife to visit with family they have not seen in many years.

“Because of my battle with cancer, I was not able to get away to see my family in Texas in many years. I had so much fun and got to forget about the label cancer gives a person. The time we had in Texas was something I will always cherish!”

David's Experience

In August, David, his wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandson traveled by RV to the Pure Michigan 400 NASCAR race. David wanted his escape to combine his passion for the outdoors along with NASCAR and quality time with his family. They spent the weekend at the track watching the races, which included pit access. Even more exciting, David's favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, won the race! One evening, they also were also able to enjoy watching a fireworks display. Spending the weekend together with his family was very special for him. David is grateful for the time they spent together and everything they do for him.

Missy's Experience

Missy, age 39, of Akron, wanted to share the magical world of Disney with her son, Owen, 4. In August 2014, Life Is Good No Matter What™ sent Missy and her family to Orlando, Florida, to enjoy some sunshine, fun and adventure with one another.

“When we found out that my ovarian cancer would continue coming back, it was like getting sentenced to the death penalty. But worse than that, there was no telling how long this would go on. No one could give me a date saying when this would end.

All the while, I was trying to make sure our son lived a normal life - one in which he has no worries about his mom being sick all the time. I wanted to give him a life where our family goes on vacations and visits amusement parks like other “normal” families do. Unfortunately, due to chemotherapy schedules and medical bills, these types of extras were just out of our reach – until we heard from Life Is Good No Matter What™. It was like a miracle. Suddenly, we were going to Disney World!

This trip was something we couldn't have done on our own. I have never felt more blessed and been more thankful. For four days I was able to see the two most important people in my life smile, laugh and just have fun, with no worries.  I felt like the luckiest person in this world and I will never forget the time we had.

Life Is Good No Matter What™ is an amazing organization that truly makes dreams come true. They provided a light at the end of a seemingly endless tunnel, even if it was just for a moment. I don't have words to thank them for what they did for my family.”

April's Experience

Alliance, Ohio, resident April , age 44, and her husband Roy traveled to Chicago in June 2014 to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary as part of their Escape through Life Is Good No Matter What™. April had visited Chicago previously as a child but was unable to view many sites due to inclement weather.  This time around, April was able to see as many sites as she wanted, as well as enjoy gourmet meals! In addition to visiting iconic sites like the Shedd Aquarium, they enjoyed an Architecture Fireworks River Boat Tour which included an evening boat cruise of the city's skyline followed by fireworks at Navy Pier.

Kevin's Experience

Akron resident Kevin, 48, had planned a trip to Myrtle Beach with his wife and two sons, but fell too ill to travel as a result of advanced salivary gland cancer. As a result, Life Is Good No Matter What™ worked with Kevin and his family and flew in his best friend David from Atlanta, Georgia, in early June. David, who has also battled cancer, stayed for several days and was able to spend quality time reminiscing. They shared a meal prepared by Totally Cooked Catering with Kevin's closest friends and family. Kevin passed away 4 weeks later.

Chris's Experience

Chris and his family enjoyed an escape to Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia.

“It provided precious moments together as a family, as all three of our children were able to attend.  We are very grateful and deeply humbled by this generous gift.  It was just what we needed to temporarily push this cancer nightmare to the back of our minds.”

Alan's Experience

Alan Liberman, age 66 of Akron, wanted to escape the harsh Ohio winter we had been having. In March 2014, Life Is Good No Matter What™ sent Alan, his wife Camille and their children Adam and Brooke to the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa. Alan's wish was to be with his beloved family, rest and relax on the beach and enjoy some great food.

“This vacation has given me a new perspective on life, that every day is precious and cannot be taken for granted. It reminded me of better times years ago.”

Shawn's Experience

Massillon resident Shawn, 34, and his girlfriend Theresa went on the ultimate NASCAR experience to the Martinsville Speedway in Ridgeway, Virginia, in March 2014. Shawn's escape included an entire weekend at the Martinsville Speedway with pit passes, garage passes, and his own personal NASCAR photographer. He also met NASCAR driver Carl Edwards.

“Thank you so much Life Is Good No Matter What™! The escape to the NASCAR experience re-energized me and allowed me the opportunity to do something I would not have been able to do without your kind generosity.”

Bill's Experience

Norwalk resident Bill Newman, age 61, along with his wife Ann, daughter McKenzie, son-in-law Mike and granddaughter Gracyn had a full Cleveland weekend getaway in March 2014. Their Escape included a photographer, limo ride to and from Cleveland, a two-night stay at the Ritz Carlton, dinners at the Hard Rock Café and Morton's Steakhouse, massages and visits to the Museum of Natural History and the Cleveland Aquarium.

“I have no words to fully describe the total fun and adventure it was to be spoiled and treated like VIPs.”
